Supporting Our Communities on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Posted on January 19, 2015
Today is Martin Luther King Day. Is there any better way to commemorate the American hero than committing yourself to service?
The MLK Day of Service is bringing millions of people together to serve their local communities through donations and volunteer opportunities. If you’re fortunate enough to have the day off, and you want to lend your support to a cause or project you believe in, AllForGood.org has over 150,000 ways to do good on MLK Day and throughout the rest of the year.
We try at Hwy 55 to remember to love our neighbors—whether it’s as complex as the Andy’s Foundation, or as simple as greeting a guest with an open door and a smile. But a day like today is a reminder to really look outside ourselves and take on the challenge that Dr. King famously gave 50 years ago: “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?'”
So let’s help our communities, together.
