Hwy 55 Prepares for 2020 Expansion

(Mount Olive, NC) — As the new year and decade is entirely upon us, many of our New Year's resolutions are in full swing. For Hwy 55, this year promises to be one of the most significant in their 29-year history.

A little over a year ago, Kenney Moore — president and founder of Hwy 55 — announced a shift in the company’s trajectory. They would be leaving the comfort of strip centers they had known for nearly all of their existence and develop to a stand-alone building. This change would help them better compete with major brands and bring Hwy 55's famous burgers, cheesesteaks, and service to more people, according to Moore.

“I am incredibly excited and energized for this new chapter,” Moore says. “Combining our world-class food and service with our beautiful new building, our guests will have more ways to dine with us than ever.”

These new ways would include a traditional drive-thru, as well as the ability to order online, which will be coming later this year with a redesigned app, Moore says.

Hwy 55 has purchased, or in the late stages of negotiations, several pieces of land in North Carolina and Texas, where these new stand-alone restaurants will soon be serving their fresh, never-frozen burgers. Ground will be breaking in multiple sites later this Spring if everything goes according to plan.

As Moore puts it, "I have had to develop a lot of patience during this process. I am beyond ready to show our guests this new experience, but building from scratch is a different animal. We are all incredibly excited."

As 2020 continues to roll full steam ahead, Hwy 55 is prepared to enter a new phase of growth that has everyone ready to see what’s next.
