The Andy’s Charitable Foundation has awarded a $2,000 grant to Backpack Pals for Richmond County, an affiliate of Helping Hands of Hamlet Inc.
Backpack Pals for Richmond County, one of over 35 recipients of Andy’s Charitable Foundation grants this year, focuses on serving hungry children in Richmond County. Founded in 2007, the charity provides food for kindergarten through twelfth-grade students who are in need all over the county school system. The children are given a backpack filled with ready-to-eat food items to sustain them over the weekend. Local volunteer military veterans deliver the food to area schools, and children pick up the backpacks at the end of the school day.
“Backpack Pals for Richmond County provides approximately 600 meals each weekend during the school year. The need for funds is never-ending. Funds from the Andy’s Foundation will be used to purchase food for the program,” said Kim Lindsey, Public Relations Director for Backpack Pals for Richmond County.
We are very honored to give to such a worthy organization, and we know they will continue to achieve great things in 2020.
