Goldsboro, NC (July 5, 2019) - The Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries in Goldsboro, NC is returning to its roots by rebranding itself under the original Andy's Cheesesteaks and Cheeseburgers concept.
The restaurant at 400 North Spence Avenue in Goldsboro had been closed since January 1 and reopened as Andy's on Friday, July 5. While Andy's will retain tthe signature 1950's decor, the new restaurant features a refreshed look with white walls, red and white furniture, new signage, and an updated menu.
Kenney Moore opened the first Andy's Cheesesteaks and Cheeseburgers in the Berkeley Mall in Goldsboro in 1991. The original restaurant operated in the mall until it was relocated to Spence Avenue. Andy's rebranded all its restaurants as Hwy 55 Burgers Shakes & Fries in 2012 when it expanded outside the state of North Carolina. The franchise retained the state trademark rights for Andy's, allowing for the Goldsboro restaurant to rebrand itself.
The Andy's restaurant is owned by Jonathan and Jessi Bond, who purchased the location in May 2018. The Bonds own three other Hwy 55s, including restaurants on Hwy 111 in Goldsboro, in Mar Mac and in Mt. Olive.
"With Goldsboro being the home of the original Andy's, the name still resonates with people in the area years after it switched to Hwy 55," said Jessi Bond. "We continue to feel the brand loyalty our customers have toward the Andy's concept. We thought this would be an ideal time to go back to the roots of the company and bring it full circle with the return of the Andy's name."
Hwy 55 is a diner with a full menu of American classics served in a fun, 1950's dining atmosphere. It features fresh, never-frozen, hand-pattied hamburgers, cheesesteak sandwiches, salads and a wide variety of milkshakes and frozen custards. Each location features a unique open kitchen in which customers can watch their meals being prepared.
