Andy's Charitable Foundation gives away $161,000 in 2018
Posted on December 17, 2018
The Andy’s Charitable Foundation — Hwy 55’s charitable arm — made its first donations in November of 2001 and has been going strong ever since. With over $2 million dollars raised over the past 17 years, the Andy’s Charitable Foundation looks forward to continuing its mission: to impact our communities in a positive way.
This year, with a dedicated board of unpaid individuals volunteering their time and effort, the Andy’s Charitable Foundation fulfilled one of its main tenants: donating money raised back to our communities – to the tune of $161,000 given to 47 different charities.
As is the case every year, children’s charities were the main focus for this giving season. The Miracle League, which gives mentally and physically handicapped children the opportunity to play on baseball teams, remained the biggest recipient this year, with donations spread across chapters in North and South Carolina and Tennessee. UNC Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics of North Carolina and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association were other notable recipients.
Mentioning all of our wonderful successes with the Andy’s Charitable Foundation will not go without thanking the main contributors to our wonderful causes: our guests. Most of you will have seen the many creative ways we raise money in our stores; from bake sales to car washes to freeing someone taped to a chair, our employees have a blast spreading our love and culture in this way. We sincerely and wholeheartedly thank each and every person who gave anything this year. We go to great lengths to ensure your donation will make a direct impact on those who need it the most.
As president and founder Kenney Moore puts it, “This is why we do what we do. You should feel immense pride that your donation directly led to a child being a part of a baseball team for the first time in their life, a wounded veteran receiving the care and support they deserve, kids getting a Christmas full of joy when they have only known disappointment…from the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Although our push to gather donations is over this year, please consider donating directly to the Andy’s Charitable Foundation at hwy55.com and thank you again for another great season!
